Weekly Photo Challenge: Pattern

From the Daily Post| Weekly Photo Challenge, the subject is on pattern. Sara Rosso writes, “Patterns are everywhere. Patterns are sometimes intentional and sometimes accidental. They can be decorative or merely a result of repetition, and often patterns can be in the eye of the beholder to discover them.”

Looking at certain patterns from a photograph makes me see possibilities.

Imagine this scene:

Raise the curtains…it’s show time, folks!

Raise the curtain...showtime!

What do you imagine when you see a central heat/air-conditioning metal wall-grill pattern?

Weekly Photo Challenge: From Above

From above, the perfidious Shari realizes her life is no different from the random litter of decayed leaves and trash that lay below her.

From Above life must change

Her soul feels dead.
She removes every trace of makeup from her cosmopolitan face.
She knows how draining it is to cover all the lines and lies
That play in her head.
With sharp scissors close to her head, slowly she snips.

Each lock of hair falls, like years of collected garbage…
quickly, she sweeps it all into the trash can.
She hears Leon Trotsky’s words reminding her,

“Life is not an easy matter…

You cannot live through it without falling into frustration and cynicism unless you have before you a great idea which raises you above personal misery, above weakness, above all kinds of perfidy and baseness.”

Sometimes if we look from above a great height, we may see unattractive spots in our own lives that need attention and cleaning up after.

As for Shari, life from above now means working hard to get her high school diploma and remain forever drug and alcohol free.

From above, how do you see life…as an easy matter to clean up or not?

“If instead of a gem, or even a flower, we should cast the gift of a loving thought into the heart of a friend, that would be giving as the angels give.” ~George MacDonald

Weekly Photo Challenge: Free Spirit

In the sphere of free spirit reflections, what comes to mind are the words written by Jeremy Aldana:

free spirit sphere, reflections, passion, photograph

“A man’s spirit is free, but his pride binds him with chains of suffocation in a prison of his own insecurities.”

Living in a prison full of insecurities can keep us locked away from experiencing the passion that is within our daily lives. Like fragile soap bubbles floating randomly in the air, if we fail to work out our insecurities, our passion in our outlook on life may burst and vanish quickly before our eyes.

If we are insecure about aging, we may miss the passion to give a whirl at new projects…so what if we are approaching the golden centenarian mark, go for that college degree dream, or whatever dreams you hold within in you that are screaming, “DREAM HERE NOW!”

If we are insecure about our physical looks, we may miss the passion to enjoy who we really are; miss being content with our own bodies without Botox and boob jobs, simply accepting the masterpiece uniquely created by the Master creator and tagged, YOU.

If we are insecure about artistic talent, we may miss the passion to let go and just create!

Therefore, will we allow our insecurities to inhibit the free spirit within us?

Are we brave enough to break down the prison walls, kick out all the insecurities that chain us to mediocrity and for the last time, bury the nebbish human beings we once were becoming and bring on the exhilarated free spirit within us?
