Weekly Photo Challenge: Horizon

Horizons – where the sky meets the earth. Looking out across an ocean, when you spot the straight horizontal line, or the visible horizon, it really is only about three miles out due to the Earth’s curvature. We see less ocean than perceived. It is too bad. I love the ocean.

Also, I would love to show you an ocean horizon but not today. Instead, we travel inland and of course, I packed a haiku set to take along.

Are these artificial structures an eyesore or beautiful art filling up the horizons? What do you think?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Hues of the Sun

Autumn is a gracious host and my favorite season. As the days walk slowly into winter, nature’s slideshow features hues of inviting colors. My eyes feast on fall’s bright orange pumpkin displays; rich array of colorful chrysanthemum blossoms; warm yellow glow from the sun; the layers of darker fall fashion with winter boots on everyone. The cold north wind proves to be mightier than the sun. Chilled, I zip up my jacket and adjust my neck scarf tighter.weekly photo challenge, hue of you, sun, haiku, haibun

Weekly Photo Challenge: Inside

The Daily Post| Weekly Photo Challenge, as Michelle Weber explains, is to “…share what you see on the inside.”

With the coming of a new season, autumn, finding Morning Glory flowers still blooming in the early morning hours are moments I want to hold onto for just a little longer.

Stooping low, I discover, nestled inside the flowering bush, a large jumping insect.

Of course, to get my haiku fix for today:

Summer days go by
Grasshopper goes unnoticed
Fall jumps to winter

What do you wish to hold onto before the next season changes?

Weekly Photo Challenge: An Unusual POV

Cheri Lucas Rowlands writes:

“In a new post [for the Weekly Photo Challenge]…share a photo with an unusual point of view.”

Recitals. The dictionary definition:

“The performance of a program of music by a solo instrumentation…”

Usually, attending a recital, say for a solo pianist and depending on the length of the program, is never easy. Parents, very close family and best friends can truly appreciate the program since most know the amount of work the performer puts in prior to the performance.

Here you will find their program audience participation as top-notch: They sit attentive, quiet and smiling through the entire one-hour.

Others may participate in just the opposite way.

Imagine you are somewhere between the ages of three to six years old, you have a camera for some odd reason, and your mind cannot fully comprehend sitting still and being quiet – ever.

Imagine the unusual point of view from a toddler’s perspective on waiting for a piano recital to happen….

Can we go home now???

Weekly Photo Challenge: One Shot, Two Ways

For this challenge, capture two images — a horizontal and a vertical version — of the same scene or subject.

Here comes our happy model for the Weekly Photo Challenge: One Shot, Two Ways

Portrait of a handsome rooster standing regally for the first vertical shot…

and quickly turns to his best (bug search) side for the landscape or horizontal view.

Rooster wants to know: Portrait or landscape…which do you prefer?

Bon appetit!

Where Dirt Roads Meet Country Skies

Hey Y’all! Hope this finds you in great spirits and hey, if you ever need inspiration or simply great graphics, hitch up the horses and ride yourself over to Jakesprinter’s weekly SUNDAY POST : Road. This week the theme is ROAD. I love dirt roads, country roads, erm, any roads that the only potential traffic jam is a herd of goats.

What type of roads do you fancy?

Take care and please, do not run over the goats!
