Searching for Light

this dark autumn night
the bright stars of milky way
cries of geese above**

a lost flock searching for light
pray the promised land is near

Never Give Up the Light of Hope

Today I spent some time thinking on Steve Biko, a South African freedom fighter, and his words on hope:

“The sense of defeat is what we are fighting against.
People must not give in to the hardship of life.
People must develop hope.”
– Steve Biko (1946-1977)

As I randomly scrolled the Internet, Oprah featured an article written Dr. Robert Leahy How to Overcome Your Feeling of Hopelessness. Dr. Leahy listed the following “litany of thoughts” and wondered how many, if any, did we keep running wild in our minds.

  • Why bother? Nothing will work out.
  • I’ll never be happy.
  • My relationship can never get better.
  • I’ll never be able to get what I want.
  • There’s no use in trying.
  • There aren’t any good men (women) left.
  • I’m too old (ugly, poor, boring, damaged, etc.)
  • I can’t compete.
  • I’m cursed. The world is against me.

I found myself saying yes to a few, oh, okay, the whole thing! Thankfully, Mr. Biko’s words inspired me to keep up the good fight and continue to develop hope for others and myself.

Taking what is popular these days, I created a quick photo quote image. I hope you can find some inspiration from it as well.hope, persistence, light, inspiration, life, fight, develop hope

It’s time to throw out the litany of troublesome thoughts,
bury the spirit of defeat
and live in the light of hope!
What do you say?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Renewal

The Weekly Photo Challenge question is: What images does renewal conjure for you?

When I think of renewal, I wonder, is it possible to have a renewal of hope that exists between two people where true love blossoms and grow beautifully together, year after year,  like the way some pretty field flowers grow?

The Field Flowers

Finding a grave site memorial gave me a renewal of faith and hope that love, a lasting one between two friends, can truly exist, even in the short-term relationship society we live in today.

The Forever Couple

I wonder how special an event was this couple’s first date that eventually became the beginning of a loving friendship not even death could break.

Death leaves a heartache
No one can heal
Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

As I said goodbye to this unknown couple resting in peace, I smiled at their chosen scripture verse from 1 Corinthians 13:13…

Three things will last forever-faith, hope and love–and the greatest of these is love.

…of course, I thanked them for their inspirational life once lived and the renewal of faith, hope and love that continues on to those who find their memorial.

Do you think Renewal can be found even after we pass on?

In Comes Silence

SUNDAY POST : Silence.

Silence came today…

Silence, love,poetry,Post a Day, 2012, Sunday Post, Writing,poetry,life,

to be close to the girl soon to be–
a grown daughter and the future’s hope
Yet, in this moment, a mother and daughter face–
Silence freely flowing between them both

No tears flow, only words–
Just a mother’s concerned words, questioning words, words…
From the mother to the future’s hope: the daughter–
Comes Silence…powerful, Silence

Future’s hope: the daughter, shuts down and goes within
Every question heard but not a sound–
the daughter remains with Silence
Somehow future’s hope: the daughter, has become skilled, a master with Silence

As time walked around with Silence in the room–
A mother waited patiently for the future’s hope:
the daughter to break free from powerful, Silence’s grip-
Not bad this time, for Silence left at three this morning

Mother and future’s hope: the daughter, drew closer again…goodbye, Silence

***********

Silence can be used as a powerful tool by giving absolutely nothing for your opponent to grab hold of and use against you, or, silence can be used as a tool to journey within ourselves to hear the Divine within us.

Where did Silence find you today? As a power tool against you or a tool that brought you peace and inner reflections?

Thank you for sharing your time here today…

~May your week be filled with abundant peace, light and inner silence.

A Mother’s Secret Hope

Youth fades; love droops, the leaves of friendship fall;
A mother’s secret hope outlives them all.
Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr

A mother’s secret hope is a child will grow to be wise and seek the path that keeps them growing closer to the Light of heaven.

Shh! Genius at work!

A mother’s secret hope is a child experiences all the joys in life that keeps them afloat even during the toughest of times.

Aargh! Everything is under control!

A mother’s secret hope is a child will keep their sense of wonder and never give up their search for who they are.

Who am I?

A mother’s secret hope is a child no matter how many falls and tumbles they take, they learn to get up gracefully and never give up following their dreams and aspirations.

Anyone notice the wrong shoes on the wrong feet??

A mother’s secret hope is while raising her child, whatever personal struggles and sacrifices she met in her own life, she kept it locked in her heart, and went on to find joy when her child found a love to share and now walks forward  building the next generation’s legacy of love.

Growing together in love . . .

my oldest daughter’s recent engagement announcement fulfilled one mother’s secret hope.

As a parent, what secret hopes did you keep in your heart and did your hopes become a reality for you?
