Chuckles on Blogger of the Year 2012: Rommel Style & Feature Blogs…

My time is up. I must get on with the show.

I am Chuckles!

Hi! I’m Chuckles…also known as, farm/blog dog extraordinaire!

Yup, you guessed it. …Time for the Blog of the Year 2012 Awards.

Blog of the Year Award banner 600

Let us get straight to the point. I love to sleep my life away. However, when a simply charming blogger comes your way, and one recently did, you must get all spiffy and looking fine–ya, know?

Many of you already know this darling of the blogosphere as none other than, Rommel from The Sophomore Slump.

YOWza!! If you have not read his Freshly Pressed: Rose Valley Falls in Ojai post, then grab your hat and run there! This is one visual hiking trip not to miss!

If the FPressed post is not enough…here is another neat thing I find irresistible about Rommel’s blogging style…it is his Featured Blogs page.

Oh, if anything, you have to, and I do mean have to, take a peek. He does not just list a blog roll like, ahem, the owner of this blog, *whispers owner’s name: sunshine*, but features a review of a blog site at the end of each post!

AMAZING! Check it out…

50th Featured Blog, The Bests of Last Call, and A List of My Absolute Musts.

So, with great excitement and lots of bouncy-bouncy, I say THANK YOU to Rommel for bestowing this star collecting award to Simply Charming!

Be ready to be WOWed…

#192: Blog of the Year/Featured Blogs Highlights/Ventura, California

Oh, cruds. Sorry–okay, I so loath rules.

Hey, I am a Great Pyrenees and by nature we are stubborn and quite independent…but alright, here are the rules…

 chuckles bleh at rules

The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:

1. Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2. Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3. Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award  and include these ‘rules’ in your post

(please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4. Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5. You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6. As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

* * * *

Yes – that’s right – there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different!

When you begin you will receive the ‘1 star’ award – and every time you are given the award by another blog – you can add another star!

There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favourite blogs – and even if they have already been given the award by someone else – you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

Hot diggity, dog!  Now you know the award rules, and coming in 2013, the Simply Charming Blog Site page will be under construction.

Yup, following in behind the Rommel Feature Blog style, the plan is to start slowly by featuring a review of a blog site at least once a month–hopefully more but do NOT hold your breath.

Since 2013 is dying to take center stage, why not start the Feature Blog Reviews now by starting with the nominees for this award.

Simply Charming Feature Blogs:

1. Angelswhisper2011: Although Angelswhisper and her helper, a cute little kitty named Little Binky, post occasionally, you can be sure  the post will tickle you into whispering, oohh…awww…so cute…as you read about the adventures of Little Binky, for example, like this one: Out of Camouflage. Trying to find Little Binky in some of the photos will leave you smiling for sure!!

2. Darlene: Notes from Meme I met via the Weekly Writing Challenge: Mind the Gap: Animated GIFs where she honestly admits she was not abusing her husband during her creation of her own GIFs! Darlene is a grad student, a pastor’s wife, a mom, and a grandmother. If you are wondering what Meme stands for in her blog name, well, it’s because Darlene, being 42 years-young and a grandmother, she wanted a name besides “Granny” or “Gran.” It made her feel 20 years older than she was! So, she became Meme! Yeah!

WHEW! Time to wrap it up folks…THANK YOU ROMMEL!!

I’ll be back with the next five award stars and more feature bloggers, but first, it is time to take a nap!

Sharing is Caring: A Lovely Pair from the Netherlands

Hey there…it is me, ChucklesChuckles, the farm dog, dog writer, awards, blog–aka, fabulous blog/farm dog…in the house to receive some awesome blog awards…

Someone was thinking of Simply Charming.

Someone I find very, very cute.

Shhh, do not tell my current feline girlfriend who thinks she owns me and pesters loves on me constantly.

dog, cat, affections, photograph, feline, canine

My current feline girlfriend…

…but someone else was thinking on things…

The someone is Little Binky.

She now lives over in the Netherlands, Rotterdam to be specific, but will soon be moving to South Limburg.

Am I right or am I right…Little Binky is for sure, CUTE, and she came by recently months ago and left the, THINKING of YOU Award.

Little Binky: Just sitting and looking at the sky…and thinking about all my blog friends especially Chuckles, the awesome and handsome blog farm dog…

( I hope Little Binky does not have a dog friend…you think she might like to be my blog feline girlfriend?)

Okay, okay…focus, because photographer, Chris Breebaart, from What’s (in) A Picture–Chris Breebaart, recently delivered the Lovely Blog Award.

I just realized that Chris blogs from the Netherlands as Little Binky. How cool is that??

As you know, blog awards come with a few rules but to make blog life a bit easier, I have taken the liberty to combine the two award rules into one.

You guys can thank me later with lots of extra-large dog bones…or shoot me…either one. Woof! Go…

Rule #1 Post award image somewhere on your blog and naturally thank and link back to the sender:

Thinking of you – Award and One Lovely Blog Award

Dear Little Binky and Mr. Chris,

If I want to say thank you in your language, should  I say dank je?

Dank je.

Thank you so much!

For those not familiar with Little Binky, she is a lovely cat that blogs with the help of her granny, angelswhisper2011. I say they do a bang up job too with so many stories about the adventures Little Binky gets into experiences.

Mr. Chris is an awesome photographer…go check it out yourself–What’s (in) A Picture–Chris Breebaart,

Thinking of You Award

Grateful for this moment.

Rule #2. Tell seven things that you love and that you think about daily.

Chuckles loves:

1. FOOD … table scraps the best!

2. SLEEPING … mostly in the day time works best for me.

3. BARKING … listen, this is top-secret: Sit outside at night-time and watch for lights to go out in all the houses and once the last one goes out, activate your constant bark alarm. Even if you do not see anything creeping around in the dark, just bark … and make it go on ALL night.

4. MESSES … spill your food dish, shed your fur all over the yard, track dirt into the garage especially after a big rain storm.

5. MEDITATING …simple, yet profound words like, St. Augustine’s “Love God and do as you will…”

6. SINGING … how about Silly Love Songs with Paul McCartney?

7. CHILLIN’ … with my blog buds…and my food dish.

Rule #3. Pass the award to seven other blogs.

A mix of blogs friends…some new and some old-time favorites:

Writer’s Journey

Living, Loving, Laughing, Snapping…..

Life as a Minister Mom

Such Wild Love

Thank you once again to Little Binky and Mr. Chris and congratulations to the seven blog wonders!

Woof, Chuckles aka blog dog.

Chuckles Speaks On the 10 Commandment…

I know, I know, you have missed my beautiful face, but, LOOKY here…I was busy landscaping my back yard, digging and digging gigantic size holes to lay around in and, *gasp* oh, noooo, LOOK:

10 commandment blog award, buried, Chuckles, dirt, hole, gasp

Creative landscaping by Chuckles…call me for ALL your landscaping needs. 🙂

I found this 10 Commandment Blog Award buried way down deep and had I not dug a deep hole, I would have totally missed this award! Some of you know what a stickler I am for getting things out on a timely basis so this, this is absolutely shameful!!

Who buried this blog award?? Hmm, why so quiet all of a sudden?

Okay, never mind. I forgive you, and you and you!

Listen, unless you are totally new to blogging, ya know the short and sweet blog award rules. For the newbies, here are the complete rules, and by the way, newbies, my name is Chuckles, AKA blog-farm dog/writer; I handle all awards around here. See my beautiful face further down this page…

Now, back to business. Here are the quick and easy award rules:

1.. THANK the giver.

THANK YOU, Francine!!! WOOF!

FEELING THE LOVE « Francine In Retirement is a wonderful and supportive blog friend living in the United States. She is an inspiration to many and when I retire from my landscaping–watch dog work, I plan to follow her example and blog everyday about my paw-some retirement adventures around the farm.

2. Next rule, answer the 10 questions below:

Let’s GO:

1.   Describe yourself in seven words.

chules, blog dog, writer, farm, dog, canine

Great Pyrenees, furry, fat slightly chubby, writer, blogger, cheerleader, watchdog and great landscape specialist. I specialize in customized large holes. (See my lovely work in the photo at the top of this page.)

2.   What keeps you up at night?

Anything that moves after dark; mysteriously lurking around to get pass my great watchdog instincts and forces me to sing bark all night.

3.   Whom would you like to be

Fancy you ask that question…well, I would definitely have to be,  John Wayne or perhaps, Sylvester Stallone aka, “Rocky.”

4.   What are you wearing now

Erm, white fur…a bit dirty with lots of sticky things like burs, twigs and *yikes*  do I see dead insects on me? Say, you would not have a minute to spare to brush me, would you?

Just asking…

5.   What scares you

What?!? Nothing scares this over 100 pound pup…no, sir, I am fearless!!

6.   What are the best and worst things about blogging

The best of blogging is, I mean, come on, me, an ordinary farm dog can actually have a job writing for a blog site like this. I think it is dang, super awesome!

Another BEST of blogging is the many folks who bring so much life to my simple country life.

The worst thing about blogging is the severe sleep deprivation one can get if not careful. It is not so much a problem for me because my eyes shut immediately when my brain has too much input.

7.    What was the last website you looked at

Why do you want to know?  TMI (too much information)

8.    If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be

Well, you see, I have this terrible drooling problem especially if I see you putting food (my favorite thing in life) in my dinner dish. So ya, I would like to stop drooling. It is hard to find a girlfriend when you have a drooling problem. Trust me. Female pups do not like handsome males, like myself, drooling…

9.    Slankets, yes or no

I think I am a slanket…that is what my cat girlfriend tells me…hehe.

10.   Tell us something about the person who nominated you:

See my thank you section above. Thank you.

3. Finally, the last rule is to nominate 10 blogger pals you want to share the award with.

(TIP-off: I shamefully disregard rules so you may or may not see 10 nominations as it will depend on how well you use your imagination.)

1. Ray’s Mom

2. Ben Nelson

3. It’s a Pussy Cats Life

Well, that’s my 10 nominations…it’s time for me to, what?? I only have three nominations? No, silly, you really see ten. 🙂

I must run along before I miss dinner so, thank you Francine for the 10 Commandment Blog Award.

Congratulations to the 10 nominees… 🙂

WOOF, laters guys!!

PS: I forgot one thing…paste this picture somewhere on  your blog and link your post to your nominees site (so they know you awarded them):

Friendship + Heart = LOVE Endures ALL

Howdy! It's me, the one and only farm dog, Chuckles!!

Hey, Chuckles here. I was going to take another round of naps but someone just hurled a shoe at me and rudely pleasantly whispered in my ears . . .

“Whoa, what?? You say Francine In Retirement just dropped off this package? Well, open it and let me have a looook . . .*gasp-woof*

King of Kings Friendship Award

Dude, check it out!! It’s the King of Kings Friendship Award! I’ve heard it’s a way of saying thank you for the blessing you are, by willingly choosing from the heart, to walk fully in the beauty of the person  God is conforming you to be by the empowering of the Holy Spirit . . . “

Umm, I’m really tuckered out today folks so here is Sunshine to follow-up on my assignment. *(I love you guys, but I love my naps more. Sorry, just being Chuckles.)

Hey, Sunshine here! Thank you so much,  Francine In Retirement,  for this honorable blessing and thinking about Simply Charming.  Gee, I really am at loss for words so let me say . . .

Because this Friendship Award comes with no attachments, allow me to pause a moment and pour my thankful heart out to all the blog friends who bring so much support here. Thank you for your gift of  time as you visit, read and share your thoughts through the conversations here.  We all know how wonderful it is to have followers and the encouraging discussions that follow after sending out a post.

I just have one simple thing to say:

Francine In Retirement

As you will see in a minute, I did  fail to paste the original text that came with this blessing–my apologies and my bad.  I have no excuses except: one has to create from the heart and,  if you really must see the original copy, check it out here:

So, to all of you who would like to take home the King of King Friendship Award, I am giving it to you as my appreciation gift for being a blessing in my life.  Just copy the LOVE ENDURES ALL image–before Chuckles decides to chew it up–and paste it on your site! Easy,  and may you be blessed beyond measure!

Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. ~Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Thanks Francine and thanks guys, for saving me from falling alone!

God bless you!!

Sunshine xoxo
