haiku challenge, Colossus of Rhodes, Carpe Diem Haiku, writing,

Bronzed Bodybuilder

As I mentioned in my post, Ancient History, Mausoleum of…Oh, dear, the minor problem I faced with ancient history, I believe I should keep fighting and persevere.

So today, I took on The Colossus of Rhodes. A victorious grand bronze statue that stood at the waterfront of Rhodes. Powerful. It represented Helios, the Greek sun-god. Unfortunately, an earthquake toppled the statue and all that remains are historical impressions, such as this one:

Bronzed bodybuilder
Commands muscles to appear
Swooning idol gasps

Swooning idol gasps
With visions of Greek sun-god
Colossal wonder

Colossal wonder
Falls to natural disaster
Ancient history

— — —

Some historians believe Helios appeared semi-nude draped with a robe. What do you think about the Colossus of Rhodes?

Great write-up,and I bet Kristjaan is going to like that rolling haiku! I thought each one was very cleverly put, leading to the collapse.
As for your question, you certainly gave me pause for thought there!

Hee hee, I’ll steal that comment to notch it up as my first compliment I think! I am happy you’ve come on board for Carpe Diem – Kristjaan’s done so well over the past year. Not sure about November with the rengas coming, but has been very enjoyable.

Awesome cascading haiku Sun, I love the way how you’ve been inspired by the Colossus. As I look at Helios’ statue … nice guy to look at, but without the steroids he would be more attractive I think. Greatly done.
