Weekly Photo Challenge: Nostalgic

My offering this week to the Daily Post| Weekly Photo Challenge:

Nostalgic. The ephemeral sentimental yearning inside me to return to the past. Finding vintage items are one of the sweet benefits when it comes to thrift store shopping.

Who remembers Horace Heidt (1901-1986), the American pianist, big band leader and radio/television celebrity of his time? I found this old battered show poster…

During Mr. Heidt’s height of popularity, he worked as a radio bandleader and toured vaudeville with his band, Horace Heidt and His Musical Knights.

After a successful show business career, Heidt built the 10-acre retirement resort called the Horace Heidt Estates. The good news is, you can still enjoy (I’m sure at a great financial cost) resort-styled living, Hawaiian Island themed, in the San Fernando Valley. Their website boasts lush green gardens, swimming pools and, of course, golf.

It makes me wish we could all stroll down the swinging big band era as screaming fans of Horace Heidt and His Musical Knights band. 🙂

i guess he was famous in his time but now long forgotten. (thank goodness for Google!) at least his legacy still stands with his luxury resort retirement homes…Little Binky, they may have kitty senior care for when you decide to retire. of course, not anytime soon…later in life. 🙂
