The Art of Kindness

“Peace begins with a smile.”

The art of kindness starts within me
Ready smiles to radiate
PEACE to the weary
-A boost to the discouraged
-pure sunshine to the sad

Mainly, it is an opportunity to stay disciplined
To master this art of giving away something small as a heart-warming smile
A simple and free gift I cannot buy at any price
However, once acquired and given freely
I have the power within
To radically transform those around me

I can give hope, courage, love
And best of all…
To calm a storm of turmoil and
Embrace the heart with a hug

smiles all around

The art of kindness
Is within me…
and YOU…

Together, we can harness its power–
let us go forth sharing our smiles
And celebrate

What other acts of kindness can we incorporate into our lives?

Every month, members from a community called, , offer up at least one post a month specifically to peace.

Host, KOZO, suggested January posts be about our own practice on kindness that hopefully lead into a more peace-filled existence.

St. Therese of Lisieux once said, “Let us not be justices of the peace, but angels of peace.”

“We can make a difference–right here, right now…to create more peace in the world in 2013…” please visit We Can Make A Difference… for details on becoming an angel of peace.

Sunshine, you made my day. A smile makes so much difference indeed, but also to help someone who needs help, for example, when somebody drops something accidentally, just pick it up. There are so many little things you can do to be kind. Here’s my smile right back to you 🙂

it’s hard to be angry when you are smiling…so now, when i notice my blood rising a bit, i just slap a smile on my face and, voila, instant emotion fix! haha…
i agree that kindness glows brightly when we go out of our way to anticipate the needs of others and take action without being prompted. yup. kindness in action. 🙂
peace, and more peace to you, Angelswhisper (Little Binky included 😉 )

i know, right? how simple is a smile but when things get a little tough, how hard to put a genuine smile on the face. *sigh*

I love the terms you use like “embrace the heart with a hug” and “angels of peace.”
You are definitely a hugging angel of peace. Thank you. {{{Hugs}}} Kozo

haha…i wuv u, Kozo! i had to write this art of kindness because you know my word for 2013 is equanimity and the light bulb flashed one day (thanks to mom Teresa)–if i quickly bring a smile to my face, well, it is very hard to be upset at anything. cha-ching…smile=balance state of mind=peace! yay!!
      {{{<3 hugs}}} 🙂

    Lovely! ❤

That reminds me that I do need to hurry on my peace post, before Kozo unsubscribes me from his community with a shame.. *guilty* :/
I really will do my best and post an article on Peace soon that i've been carrying around in my mind for quite a while now 🙂

    Great piece, dear!

The world does need a lot of kindness and it starts in all of us. A smile, a hug, a comforting word, of giving without expectations, all these and more will make our planet a haven of peace and love. Beautiful post! Thanks.
