A bright memory shines from long ago…

The photograph fell onto the hard floor as Mia violently lost another hospital meal. Her chemo treatments made eating almost impossible.

As she feebly reached down to pick up the only memory she had of her brother and sister back home, a stabbing head pain seized control and brought her jerking back onto her pillow; tears flowed uncontrollably down her contorted face.

These painful episodes were coming more frequent and Mia felt the uninvited alien in her brain would soon be victorious.

Mia closed her eyes; her two younger siblings took up their instruments and Lights finally played her home.

Sunshine, pardon my ignorance, but do you have anything longer published. I love your fiction, but these sparse hundred word challenges barely wet my appetite. “Please sir, I want some more.”

      thank you, Jan!
the cancer would be an ugly, unwanted alien…not at all like your delightful alien characters enjoying their inter-species relationship. 🙂
      happy new year!
