Weekly Writing Challenge: The Sound of Blogging

I wanted to try two new things today. First, a quick post for the Daily Post Writing Challenge, the theme being, The Sound of Blogging, and second, in the dashboard section, compose a quick post.

So, here it is…

“I heard a neigh. Oh, such a brisk and melodious neigh as that was! My very heart leaped with delight at the sound.” ~Nathanial Hawthorne

Of all the sounds in the world, the most intoxicating to my soul and sends me leaping with delight, is no other than the dear sounds from God’s gift to the world, the horse!

I love how some writers write exactly what you are thinking.

Wynford Vaughan-Thomas, summed up beautifully…”All the sounds dear to a horseman…the snort of the horses as they clear(ed) their throats, the gentle swish of their tails, the tinkle of irons, as we fling the saddles over their backs–little sounds of no importance, but they stay in the unconscious library of memory.”

This is my neighbor’s horse but one day, I will check off from my bucket list:
Own horses

Have you tried anything new on your blog recently?
What was the best sound you ever heard?

I share both your love of the sounds horses make *and* your dream of owning one (or more). A horse picture is on my vision board 🙂 Great post Sunshine…and it was such wonderful-for-my-soul medicine that I needed tonight. Love it!…thank you for posting and, in so doing, helping me reconnect with my own memories and my dream for my future~ emma

Sound of Birds is my favorite. They always spread some kind freshness and peace in the air. And on trying something new with my blog, I hope I’ve to do that one soon. 🙂
Have a great day, Sunshine. 🙂

I remember your birds in the courtyard photo and I imagine their sound, especially the cooing of doves, spreading ‘freshness and peace in the air!’

I love your choice of the best sound, Arindam…thanks for sharing. 🙂

The world has gotten so loud with artificial man made sounds, it’s hard to hear the natural ones. Its funny how people always seem to release stress and relax once natural sounds are heard.
this post was a nice “listen”.

You brought up a very good point, Philo Mouse…we are surrounded with artificial sounds that we think helps us relax but if we simply tune into the natural sounds, we could arrive to a blissful state much quicker. 🙂
Thanks, I needed to hear that! 😉

The sound of birds are truly peaceful and I wish my house cat purrs. She was an orphan and I guess she did not learn how to purr out loud…one can only feel her purrs. Funny.
      Thanks for sharing!! 😉
