Silence came today…
to be close to the girl soon to be–
a grown daughter and the future’s hope
Yet, in this moment, a mother and daughter face–
Silence freely flowing between them both
No tears flow, only words–
Just a mother’s concerned words, questioning words, words…
From the mother to the future’s hope: the daughter–
Comes Silence…powerful, Silence
Future’s hope: the daughter, shuts down and goes within
Every question heard but not a sound–
the daughter remains with Silence
Somehow future’s hope: the daughter, has become skilled, a master with Silence
As time walked around with Silence in the room–
A mother waited patiently for the future’s hope:
the daughter to break free from powerful, Silence’s grip-
Not bad this time, for Silence left at three this morning
Mother and future’s hope: the daughter, drew closer again…goodbye, Silence

Silence can be used as a powerful tool by giving absolutely nothing for your opponent to grab hold of and use against you, or, silence can be used as a tool to journey within ourselves to hear the Divine within us.
Where did Silence find you today? As a power tool against you or a tool that brought you peace and inner reflections?
Thank you for sharing your time here today…
~May your week be filled with abundant peace, light and inner silence.

Not a sunshiney post at all, but extremely moving. I have a daughter (grown now) with whom my relationship is often fraught with silence. You express it so beautifully. Many thanks, and for the link, too.

I confess that my tendency, often, is to fill up the silence with words–perhaps because I grew up with “silence” being a wall to keep me out. God bless you today, Sunshine. love, sis Caddo

It’s hard to keep silent…just watched a movie with Julia Roberts called EAT, LOVE and PRAY–have you seen it? Well, at one point she, (Julia’s character) is participating in a silent retreat thingy and she goes around holding a sign that lets everyone who tries to talk with her that she is being silent for the day. You just reminded me of that movie…lol!
~May His radiant face shine upon yOu, sis! Thanks 🙂

Yep, I would need the sign–or duct tape, or a C-clamp for my lips, something durable…hopeless!

I love the introspect into the daughter/Mom relationship…I only had sons…and I have to tell you they are quite upfront with ther feelings…talk…and emotions…Then, I had Granddaughters…quite another breed…and thank goodness for that…but, they being so inward unless it is so over dramatic keeps us on out toes for sure…Very extreme…but, that “silence” is sometimes almost to much to bare…Great read…mkg

One good thing about writing is, it sure makes you think about things in a good way…like who knew Silence could have so many faces? This is interesting about the differences you have found between your sons (males) and your granddaughters (females.) We humans are so, so interesting…
Thank you, Marilyn 🙂

Silence is difficult. I sometimes go there, myself, to minimize confrontation or from saying something that could make a situation worse. Words have a tremendous impact, for good or for bad.
Thought-provoking post.

So, I wonder, does it take more energy to remain silent when you really are dying to blurt everything out or when you just let it all out…hmmn, I wonder. I agree, MJ…staying silent when you have a zillion things you want to say is not easy.;(

The poem brought back memories of when my daughter was as a teenager, so often ‘silent’. Now she’s all grown up with kids of her own, she never stops talking. 😉 I enjoy my moments of silent introspection.

How life changes, first a person can be so quiet and the next, non-stop talker…I’m happy you shared your thoughts, Adinparadise, and I wonder if your daughter remembers being so silent in her younger teenage years? Lol!

Yeah, I can comment. I don’t know why I can’t on some and can on the other???? What? Silence? You don’t know either, do you? Anyway, I loved this (I have a daughter). I never get silence from her, but I get the concept. 🙂 Angie

It’s wonderful you have a great communication line with your daughter–
I find if we are persistent and have good intentions then things usually work out for the best.
I don’t know why either about the comment thing…just a mystery yet to be solved…:)
Thanks!

People who are never silent may have trouble hearing others.
On the other hand, silence can be the scream of one desperate and terrified.
Silence is also healing and necessary to gain perspective.
For something so quiet it, sure is demanding
